Understanding QDENGA

QDENGA is a live-attenuated tetravalent dengue vaccine developed by Japanese pharmaceutical company Takeda. The vaccine targets all four serotypes of the dengue virus (DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4), which is crucial because infection with one serotype does not provide immunity against the others. In fact, subsequent infections with different serotypes can lead to more severe forms of the disease, including dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome.
